Honors First Year Experience

In my Honors First Year Experience class, I had the opportunity to learn more about research and the skills that are needed to accomplish research. I began to understand more the importance of ethical research: it is important to give credit to the work of other researchers, and it must be apparent that a researcher is referencing other person’s work. I learned about the importance of not only being able to understand scholarly articles, but being able to effectively incorporate the information in an essay. I learned more about how to navigate the articles. By reading scholarly journals, I have been able to learn about other peoples' perspectives and learn more about my topic of interest. Research is fun because it is like putting together a puzzle: I generate my own ideas and create a thesis and then I piece together my research with my own ideas and the ideas of other people to make a complex and informative essay.
